Gin Blossoms at NaperDays 2008
June will bring a lot more outdoor activities. Be sure to schedule in a visit to NaperDays over Fathers Day Weekend, June 13-15. NaperDays is a relatively new festival in Naperville that is held at the historic Naperville Settlement just south of the downtown Naperville area. There are a lot of family activities scheduled during the daytime hours. This event also includes the "Taste of Naperville" which brings together a variety of Naperville restaurants that serve some of their food specialties. Be sure to bring your appetite.

The folks at NaperDays were very excited when they booked the "Gin Blossoms" to highlight the schedule of live band performances. They were an extremely popular band back in the nineties that broke up and have reunited (yay!). They will appear on Saturday June 14 at 8pm.

Here is the full schedule of bands to appear:

Friday June 13
-Micheal Heaton
-Play Doctors Featuring Kimi Hayes
(Both are Naperville favorites)

Saturday June 14
-One Lone Car
-Gin Blossoms

Sunday June 15
-Teenage Band Showcase/Hix Music Showcase

Listen to the Music in Downtown Naperville
Back in August 2007 the Naperville police began enforcement of the "amplifier ordinance" aka "good neighbor ordinance" in downtown Naperville forcing a few places to modify their musical offerings. Potter's Place was forced to cancel the bands out on their back patio and Jilly's & Rizzos had to close their windows. The good news is that the City Council amended the current ordinance. Music will now be allowed to emanate from an establishment as long as is not audible from 300 feet away (the old ordinance called for 100 feet which was unreasonable in an entertainment district). In addition, live music must cease one hour before last call and recorded music thirty minutes prior to closing.

Management at Potters' is booking duo's and trio's for their very popular back patio area which should keep the noise level down (better for conversing).

We are going to try hard to include Potters' entertainment lineup in our Nightlife in Naperville Guide for our subscribers so be on the look out for that.

Looking Forward to Ribfest in Naperville
Plan ahead, mark your calendars and visit the Naperville Ribfest this summer. The event is held over the 4th of July weekend at Knoch Park. It is sponsored by the Exchange Club of Naperville, and supported by the City of Naperville and the Naperville Park District. Proceeds from Ribfest go to preventing child abuse and domestic violence.

The entertainment lineup for Ribfest is shaping up pretty well. So far they have booked Ted Nugent and Big Head Todd and the Monsters for July 3, REO Speedwagon on July 4, Foghat on July 5, and Trace Adkins on July 6 with more announcements on additional acts to come.

Check back here for updates to the entertainment lineup as they become available.
